Mrs. Maryam Sanda, who was on Monday sentenced to death by hanging for killing her husband, will appeal the judgment, a member of his legal team has confirmed. Justice Yusuf Halilu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had given her the maximum sentence for killing her husband, Mr. Bilyaminu Bello.
Mr Olusegun Jolaawo, the lead counsel representing Maryam Sanda who allegedly killed her husband, has urged a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama to discharge and acquit the defendants because the prosecution has failed to show evidence to prove its case.
Maryam Sanda who is standing trial for allegedly killing her husband Bilyaminu Bello has revealed in a statement she made before the police that several nude pictures she found on her husband's phone caused the fight which eventually led to his death.
The trail of Maryam Sanda was on Wednesday stalled due to the absence of a prosecution witness. When the matter was called, Mr James Idachaba announced appearance for the prosecution while the first defendant, Maryam was represented by Mr O. Jolaawo.
