Images show the aftermath following a blast that left at least eight people, including two police officers, dead and several others wounded in a suicide blast in southwestern Pakistan. The suicide attack took place in the southwestern city of Quetta in Balochistan province, which remains rife with insurgent activity.
India has a major problem around female suicide. Almost 40 percent of women who kill themselves globally live in India. This is much higher than the suicide rate for Indian men. A report published recently calls what’s going on in India a public health emergency.
Suicide, the deliberate act of ending one’s life, is regarded as one of the leading causes of death in the world. While it is rampant among low and medium-income countries, the World Health Oganisation (WHO) said in a report that it is the second leading cause of death among people aged 19-26 globally in 2016.
